Sun Dinner with Dad
Interestingly, based on HK friends’ recommendation I took my father to 小隱私廚 tonight. It was closed for business and we were redirected to its sister store down the street, 大隱酒食. Good Taiwanese home-style food. There are plenty of shops like this now, selling traditional Taiwanese fare in a nostalgic setting. I typically eat this sh*t up, since I like things with a bit of “Taiwanese flavor”. The grilled “air-dried over night” fish lived up to its many recommendations. Father’s favorites, 蒜泥鮮蚵油條&酸菜薑絲炒大腸, were done with more polish than the usual “fast fry” joints. Would come back again despite some service issues.
After dinner, we walked around the neighborhood, father’s old stomping ground. Overall a very nice relaxing evening, with the weather inching closer and closer to fall.
