Taking Care of Tailored Shirts
As an office drone, I have to wear shirts and dress pants. My first ever encounter with shirts was when I was in kindergarten. Little kids had to wear polyester, almost transparent short sleeve shorts, with polyester short shorts. Up to the point I went to a British-styled international school, the polyester shirt remained a staple of my everyday wear. I hated it.
Now after years of faking it as a working adult, I have acquired an appreciation of tailored shirts made of fine fabric. After going through batches of them, I decide to look up how to really properly care for them on my own. Here are the distilled knowledge from the World Wide Web:
- Use delicate or normal cycle, cold water, preferably in mesh bags
- Remove collar stays, store and re-insert after ironing
- Pre-treat underarms and collar and cuffs every time, especially important to me cuz I sweat like a pig
- Use launder soap to treat stubborn stains and soak for maximum effect
